The Paper Eucalyptus Story

How to make authentic eucalyptus, with botanical details.

Over the years, working as a paper florist, I’ve gathered a lot of knowledge on how to make realistic eucalyptus types, from different paper weights. So I decided to share everything I know, throughout this 200 page written course, with more than 1300 photos and text instructions. I will reveal how to achieve the eucalyptus delicate gray-green-blue colors, the small and fascinating seeds and how to work with different techniques and creative methods in order to make the most common and often used eucalyptus, in centerpieces and bouquets: silver dollar and seeded eucalyptus, willow, true blue and baby blue eucalyptus.

FAQ

  • What type of materials do I need to take this course?

This course teaches you how to work with all paper weights. For the leaves we need: sage green 180 gr., grass green 160 gr. and olive green 90 gr.; we also need doublette papers (green tea/cypress and white) and coffee filters. In addition to these, we need some extra fine crepe paper, 90 gr. (brown, ivory, yellowish green). You also need Mod Podge mat finish, good quality white glue, Tacky glue and hot glue with hot glue gun, floral wires in different gages, scissors, wire cutter and all the basic materials that every paper florist should have in the studio. For the coloring process I use acrylics (white, naples yellow, ochre, chrome oxide green, cobalt blue-light, cold-dark gray and brown) and Pan Pastels (burnt sienna shade , red iron oxide, chrome ox. green shade, permanent green tint, red iron oxide tint). You also need a few paintbrushes, art sponges and other useful utensils.

  • How long can I access the course?

As long as Christine Paper Design exists and I can sustain the activity and the hosting cost. I will do my best to make that happen for a long time but my advice is, once you purchase the course make the best of it; download all the materials and try to learn as much as you can. Enjoy the process, take notes and make use of every detail I provide. This is a written course so, once you purchase it, you can download it to your computer so it belongs to you after that, with the requirement of respecting the Terms of Use.

  • Can I make the course if I’m a beginner or do I need to be an experienced paper florist?

Normally I would say that you need to have some experience with this craft but I had the chance to see some really great achievements made by beginners. I don’t believe in limits and labels so if you wish to learn go for it! Keep in mind that you need to practice for a few times until you obtain the result you desire but this is as it should be. Also, if you are a beginner you will have the opportunity to learn many techniques all at once, some of which took me years to perfect.

  • I have no experience with acrylic coloring. Can I still make the project?

Yes! I offer a lot of support and advice during this process: I share information about what brands to buy, how to dilute the color, how to apply the color to the paper and many other useful painting tips that will make your process easier. During the course I also offer advice on how to work with the paper just as it is, without painting it.

  • Can I reach out if I have questions?

Yes! Please, feel free to ask everything you need to know relating this course. I will do my best to answer fast.

  • Why is this just a written course and it doesn’t have video support?

Making photos and sharing my thoughts in writing is my favorite way of expressing and I’ve always received positive feedback about my tutorials. When I first started this project I never thought it would imply so much information and knowledge. It took a few months to put this story together, from making the prototypes and developing the techniques, some old and some new, to photographing each step and editing the pages. I thought of adding a video format as well but, at the moment, I considered that the course has all the information needed, with more than 1300 photos and instructions for every step.
